Plate laser cutting gives clean, smooth edges that are effectively ready to weld. Compared with waterjet or plasma, there is far less cleanup and far less time lost to secondary operations before the part moves to forming.

Holes, alignment keys and custom profiles are cut in the same pass, which cuts assembly time and improves accuracy downstream. For material thicker than the laser envelope we run waterjet — steel to 4 in, aluminum to 8 in and stainless to 3 in.

Common questions

What plate thickness can you laser cut?

On the laser: steel up to 0.75 inch, aluminum and stainless up to 0.25 inch. Thicker material runs on the waterjet: steel to 4 inches, aluminum to 8 inches and stainless to 3 inches.

How much edge cleanup is needed before welding?

Very little. Laser-cut edges come off clean and smooth and are effectively ready to weld, with far less cleanup than waterjet or plasma before the part moves to forming.

Can holes and alignment features be cut in the same pass?

Yes. Holes, alignment keys, part numbers and custom profiles are cut in the same pass as the outline, which removes layout and drilling from the build and improves accuracy downstream.

What should I send for a plate laser quote?

A 3D model in Parasolid (.x_t), STEP or IGES, with material and finish requirements called out so nothing stalls in planning.
